Rogers Hometown Hockey

Where my journey in live events began.

Rogers Hometown Hockey was more than an event — it was a traveling celebration of Canada’s favourite game, bringing the magic of hockey to communities across the country. For two winters, I was part of the touring team, setting up full-scale hockey festivals in 57 cities from coast to coast. Each stop transformed local streets into a live broadcast hub, combining sports, entertainment, and community spirit into one unforgettable weekend.

It was my first real taste of what large-scale production feels like — fast-paced, technical, and endlessly rewarding. As an AV Event Coordinator, I handled the setup and operation of the audiovisual systems that powered the entire festival: massive LED screens, live sound, and interactive fan zones. Every weekend was a new challenge — new weather, new layout, new city — but the same goal: deliver a flawless show that made every community feel like the centre of Canada’s hockey story.

Learning the Bigger Picture.

Over time, my role expanded beyond tech. I began taking on production responsibilities, designing site layouts in AutoCAD to optimize traffic flow and sightlines for thousands of attendees. I worked closely with producers, local crews, and broadcast teams to ensure each setup not only looked right but felt right — creating spaces where families, fans, and players could share the same energy.

That experience shaped everything that came after. It taught me how to think on my feet, lead under pressure, and see the bigger picture behind every build.

The Impact.

Rogers Hometown Hockey wasn’t just about hockey — it was about connection.
It taught me the heartbeat of live experiences: community, teamwork, and storytelling. Looking back, it’s where I fell in love with the craft of experiential production — turning concepts into moments that bring people together.
